È stato a Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo che ha avuto luogo il primo studio sulla piantagione monovarietale nella regione del Douro. Tra il 1979 e il 1981, insieme al Ministero dell'Agricoltura portoghese, attraverso il Centro Studi sul Vino del Douro, Quinta Nova ha selezionato le migliori esposizioni solari per studiare la piantagione di tre vitigni: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional e Touriga Franca.A Plot 28 di Quinta Nova piantato con la varietà Tinta Roriz, comprendente 2650 piedi e un dislivello di 25, situato ad un'altitudine compresa tra 205 e 210 metri. Questa varietà dimostra chiaramente la sfida enologica e la tenacia umana nel preservare un'antica e autentica Douroa. L'austerità della varietà è evidente in bocca, ma allo stesso tempo siamo sedotti da una raffinatezza un po' contemporanea che, combinata con il vigneto secolare (particella 21), crea una miscela che rivela un riferimento nel Douro portoghese, un vino ricco di mineralità, frutti blu, ricco di note speziate con una struttura decisa e una bocca molto stretta. L'elevata concentrazione, densità e profondità esprimono chiaramente la sua origine.Produzione: 3900 bottiglie.
