Casa Martell fu fondata da Jean Martell nel 1715, dopo aver lasciato la sua città natale, Jersey, per stabilirsi in Francia con l'obiettivo di perfezionare l'arte di produrre il Cognac. con il motto "Voglio solo il meglio, senza artificiosità". Dopo la sua morte nel 1753, la sua eredità crebbe sotto la gestione di sua moglie Rachel Martell. Quattro curiosità: è l'unico ad essere esportato in Inghilterra durante il Blocco Continentale (1807-1808), fu servito durante la cerimonia di incoronazione del Re Giorgio V d'Inghilterra, nel 1911, e durante una Cena di Gala per celebrare il Principe matrimonio Rainier di Monaco con Grace Kelly. Nel 1977, i passeggeri del volo in coincidenza tra Parigi e New York, effettuato dal leggendario Concorde, potevano godersi un Martell Cordon Bleu, servito nel 1986 anche sul leggendario Orient Express, che collega Venezia e Copenaghen. Nel 2005, il marchio ha lanciato il Martell XO, che è diventato rapidamente un classico e un'icona della Maison. L'eredità di 300 anni di know-how e passione viene celebrata con il cognac L'Or di Jean Martell.
In bocca ha una perfetta combinazione tra legno e un tocco speziato. Freschezza vellutata e indimenticabile.
Al naso è ricco di frutta, note speziate e con molta freschezza: agrumi, pera e zafferano, si sentono ancora note di legno.
